Out of the Darkness
This type of healing is for a man who not only struggles with life’s daily challenges, but one who is severely struggling with his identity as a man, embraces immoral attitudes and choices for his life; and demonstrates a chronic addiction to sex, alcohol, drugs and any other destructive behavior. For this man, The King’s Men recommend the following steps:
Professional counseling with possible psychotherapy to address deep seeded wounds from past;
Participation in a 12 step program and network which can offer daily and/or weekly accountability;
Involvement and/or association with issue specific organizations like Courage (www.couragerc.net).
Courage is for men who are struggling with same sex attraction disorder or transgender issues;
Possible family involvement or participation in recovery support programs like Al Anon or EnCourage;
Reception of Sacrament of Reconciliation with priestly direction as to the frequency given the nature or complexity of the man’s issue;
Reception of the Eucharist as often as can given advice in step #5.
Note: all of the above recommendations presume that a man is praying each day for God’s direction and guidance in their daily choices and behaviors.
